Who is FlyingLenz?
Danny Garcia is the drone pilot and photographer behind the scenes at FlyingLenz.com. He moved to Miami, Florida in 1988 from Los Angeles, California where he became known on social networks as “@DanMiami” and “@FlyingLenz”. Danny is now based in Marietta, Georgia, and is an experienced world traveler who is available for assignments globally.

Bringing his skills as a travel photographer, Danny Garcia began flying drones in 2013. He holds a current drone pilot certification issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This certification allows him to legally create commercial drone photography and video content.
In 2020, he obtained a nationwide Part 107.29 Night Waiver. This means that he can create commercial photos and video footage at night.
Note: the FAA recently changed requirements in 2021 for drone night photography which no longer requires pilots to have this special waiver, except in certain situations.
Danny has been creating photo art since 2008, he developed his specialty in high dynamic range (HDR) photography. To further his photographic skills and education, Danny attended a rare US-based HDR workshop in the United States taught by renowned HDR photographer, Mr. Trey Ratcliff (more details here).
After this event, Danny was inspired to re-process photos he had previously left untouched. As he posted his work on Flickr, he noticed an increased amount of interest and positive comments from other photographers. Danny decided to specialize in shooting and processing HDR photography and is associated with professional photographers based in South Florida who handle photography jobs ranging from fashion, forensics, and aerial photography.
In 2010, Danny’s was awarded the $7,100 grand prize by Blackberry (Research in Motion) in a photographic contest entry which was based upon an untouched photo (no Photoshop or other edits). Danny invested his winnings into a better camera and began to make photographs with a Canon 7D for many years. After 7 years of shooting Canon, he moved to the full-frame Sony A7rII.

Photography and Video Equipment
Depending on your photography and video requirements, Danny uses a variety of equipment to complete your assignment. Below is a current list of equipment on-hand. Additional equipment will be acquired for your project on an as-needed basis.

Which drone is used, depends on what each project requires. Most drones fly similarly, but the camera on one of our drones may be better suited for night photography and videos, while another may be better for panoramic shots, roof inspections, or other applications.

- Sony A7 rii
I also use a mirrorless Sony A7 rii DSLR which produces 42-megapixel photos and 4k HD video. This camera is suitable for ground level shots both indoor and outdoor. It has traveled the world with me and created many of the captures featured on my portfolio/gallery site www.miamihdrphotography.com.
- DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2
The white DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2 is also capable of taking high-quality 20-megapixel photos and up to 4k high definition (HD) video. This drone is used for many photography and video projects requiring a 1″ sensor with a mechanical shutter.
- Autel EVO II Pro 6K
The orange Autel EVO II Pro shown here is capable of taking high quality 20-megapixel photos and up to 6k high definition (HD) video. This drone is used for both photography and video projects with a maximum speed of 45 MPH and can operate over 5 miles away from the pilot. The smaller frame on this drone allows it to get into tighter spaces and has anti-collision sensors that can be turned off when needed in certain situations – such as indoor drone flights.
- DJI Mavic 2S
The 2022 addition to our fleet is the DJI Mavic 2S. This drone shoots 20-megapixel photos and up to 4k high-definition (HD) video at 60 frames per second. This drone has a 1″ sensor and can be used to fly indoors as well as outside.
- Skydio2
The blue Skydio2 drone is a drone that I use for special projects with a contract partner. It is used for roof inspections, has a 4k HDR camera, and flies autonomously up to 36 MPH.
