There may be a lot of drone pilots, but only a handful of Certified Drone Photographers (CDP) accredited by the Professional Photographers of America.
Who is FlyingLenz?
Danny Garcia is the drone pilot and photographer behind the scenes at FlyingLenz.com. He moved to Miami, Florida, in 1988 from Los Angeles, California, where he became known on social networks as “@DanMiami” and later “@FlyingLenz”. Danny is currently based in the Atlanta, Georgia market. He is also an experienced world traveler available for travel assignments.
Taking aerial photos since 2013, he maintains a current drone pilot certification issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This certification allows him to legally create commercial drone photography and video content. He also carries general liability insurance in addition to drone coverage.
In 2020, he obtained a nationwide Part 107.29 Night Waiver. This means the FAA has authorized him to fly commercial photos and video operations at night when others cannot.
Note: the FAA changed requirements in 2021 for drone night photography, which no longer requires pilots to have this special waiver, except in certain situations.
In 2010, Danny’s was awarded the $7,100 grand prize by Blackberry (Research in Motion) in a photographic contest entry based upon an untouched photo (no Photoshop or other edits). Danny invested his winnings into a better camera and began to make photographs with a Canon 7D for many years. After 7 years of shooting Canon, he moved to the full-frame Sony A7rII.

Danny has created high-dynamic range photography (HDR) images since 2008. To further his photographic skills and education, Danny attended a rare US-based HDR workshop in the United States taught by renowned HDR photographer Mr. Trey Ratcliff (more details here).
Drone Photography and Video Equipment
Depending on the photography and video requirements, Danny uses various equipment to complete his assignments. On specialty shoots, he will contract additional photographers and videographers to assist with the shoots and bring in additional equipment.
Just so you know – we’ve included below a current list of recommended equipment for those looking to buy a drone. In most cases, these are official affiliate links direct to the vendor. If you purchase through our link, we will earn a small commission.
“Which drone should I buy? That all depends on what each project requires. Most drones fly similarly, but the camera on one of our drones may be better suited for night photography and videos, while another may be better for panoramic shots, roof inspections, or other applications.”
